Our Mission and Vision
To partner with Cambodian youth to fulfil their potential in education, employment and engagement with their community.
All Cambodian youth contribute to the sustainable development of their society.
Journeys Within Our Community (also known as JWOC) is a local, non-profit, youth-focused organization making a big impact in the lives of many young Cambodians who want to make positive contributions to society through education.
In 2005, JWOC founders Brandon and Andrea Ross moved to Cambodia from the United States to set up a boutique hotel. While living here they saw firsthand the needs of the population struggling with poverty. They also saw the desire of travelers, friends and family to provide support. They realized they could work as intermediaries between those who needed help and those who wanted to give it. Years later JWOC has become more than they ever dreamed was possible, with thousands of lives, both of recipients and donors, positively impacted.
When JWOC was founded, we focused on education in schools, WASH and financial training. However, we also did some infrastructural development on roads, garden and wells. As more organizations took on infrastructure, we began to specialize in education.
We have learned that focusing on education is where we can make the greatest difference in helping Cambodian youth to better their future and become leaders in their community.
Journeys Within Our Community (JWOC) is a non-profit organization working in Cambodia to empower low-income Cambodians to lead their communities by providing educational and personal development opportunities, inspiring a mindset of co-responsibility and social service. JWOC is certified with a Platinum Seal of Transparency by GuideStar.org.
